Exploring an Bizarre Steam Demo: Controlling a Turdy Character with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have encountered a variety of engaging creations from small studios. Yet, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure includes a protagonist that is actually a turd striving to make its way to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

The gameplay is straightforward: you only need a single jump button. In 150 levels, you'll face boss fights and visit a market to acquire customizations for your poop character.

Execute your actions carefully, since one mistake forces beginning again. Leap using floating orbs to launch yourself to new heights, navigate crumbling platforms, and activate triggers to unlock secret routes. Collect UN-KOINS and use them on challenging levels as things gets crazy.

Graphically, the demo features vibrant level designs and catchy background music. Its minimalist graphics of moving basic polygons evokes memories of fans of old favorites like Earthbound.

Although hard to name other games where you are a dung character, interactive entertainment often featured fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, players make throwables from protagonist excrement. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ manure as plant food. Naturally, such content appears a lot in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already earned notable accolades, such as winning at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. A playable preview is accessible now on Steam, with the complete version planned to launch on PC on November 19.
